AutoCad 3D modeling

AutoCAD 3D modeling

This electric guitar body was designed using AutoCAD 3D as part of my Engineering Graphics course while earning my A.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Drawing on my domain knowledge as a musician, I created an S-style body with cutouts for the bridge, middle, and neck pickups, as well as areas for the bridge, control pots, and electronics. This design showcases the integration of engineering precision with practical knowledge of musical instruments to achieve both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Dynamic Excel Spreadsheets

Dynamic Excel Spreadsheets

This is an Excel spreadsheet that dynamically calculates the price to paint a number of given water towers. The user enters the number of water towers they want painted, the price of paint, and the attributes and dimensions of the water towers, and the spreadsheet calculates the total surface area, and the total amount it costs to paint the towers.

Electronic Prototyping

Electronic Prototyping

This is an electronic thermometer and barometer controlled lamp that I created using an Arduino Uno, a DHT11 humidity and temperature sensor, an LCD screen, an RGB LED. The code is in C++ and controls the color of the LED. As the temperature and humidity levels in the room change, so does the color of the LED.

Electronic Projects

This is an extracurricular project that I developed on my own. It is an electronic thermometer and barometer built using an Arduino Uno, a DHT11 humidity and temperature sensor, an LCD screen, and an RGB LED. The code, written in C++, dynamically controls the RGB LED's color to reflect changes in temperature and humidity levels in real time. As the environmental conditions shift, the LED color transitions smoothly, providing a visual and interactive way to monitor the room's climate.

Arduino is an open-source microcontroller platform designed for building electronic projects. It consists of both hardware (a physical programmable circuit board) and software (an integrated development environment, or IDE, for writing and uploading code to the board). Arduino boards, such as the Arduino Uno, are equipped with digital and analog input/output pins that allow them to interface with various sensors, actuators, and other components. They are widely used for prototyping and creating interactive devices due to their simplicity, versatility, and extensive community support.

Programming in C++

This program initializes the DHT11 sensor for temperature and humidity readings and a 16x2 LCD display to show the data. The RGB LED is connected to PWM pins, allowing smooth color transitions. In the loop(), the DHT11 sensor collects humidity and temperature data every 2 seconds. These values are displayed on the LCD in real time.

The RGB LED's color changes based on humidity. Lower humidity (0-30%) results in a red hue, while higher humidity (30-80%) transitions to blue, providing a visual representation of the environment. The code accumulates temperature and humidity readings for a set number of cycles (numReadings = 10). After this, it calculates and displays the average values on the LCD for a broader perspective of the environment.

The setColor() function sets the RGB LED's color using the mapped values of humidity for smooth transitions.

Dynamic Excel Spreadsheets
This is an Excel spreadsheet that dynamically calculates the cost to paint a group of water towers. The user enters the number of water towers they want painted, the price of paint, and the attributes and dimensions of the water towers. The spreadsheet calculates and outputs the total surface area and the total cost to paint the towers.

Another spreadsheet I created dynamically calculates the amount of time it would take to offset the cost of installing a solar panel system with the savings generated from using less energy, or having a surplus of solar energy that the power company will buy back.

AutoCAD 3D Modeling

This electric guitar body was designed using AutoCAD 3D as part of my Engineering Graphics course while earning my A.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Drawing on my domain knowledge as a musician, I created a Stratocaster style body with cutouts for the bridge, middle, and neck pickups, as well as areas for the control pots and electronics.

Drafting

During my Engineering Graphics course at San Antonio College, I created the blueprint on the right in AutoCAD. This is a two-dimensional draft that required precise measurements due to the many details.

This project highlights the importance of clarity so others can understand and recreate the design.

Projectile trajectory mechanical engineering project

This is one of the first programs that I ever created while I was studying Mechanical Engineering and learning how to code in C++. It first uses an if-else statement to authenticate the user by checking if the user is a member of the group. If the user enters a name that's on the list, they're allowed access to the rest of the program, which calculates projectile trajectory using the range equations.
